Recipe: Chex Treats (jacked up on) Mini Reese’s and Mallow Bits
~ Prep Time: 5 mins. ~ Cook Time: 1 minute ~Yields: About 13 cups ~
Ingredients:
1 14.25 oz. box of Chocolate Chex
14 tablespoons butter (not margarine)
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 8 oz. bag Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups
1 1/2 cup Kraft Mallow Bits
Instructions:
Pour entire box of cereal in a very large mixing bowl and set aside. In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add sugar and corn syrup, mixing well with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula until sugar is completely dissolved.
Turn heat to medium high and bring mixture to a full, rolling boil, stirring constantly. While continuing to stir, allow mixture to boil for a full minute. Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool for about one minute then add vanilla. Stir well.
Slowly pour syrup mixture over cereal. Carefully stir with wooden spoon to coat the cereal with the syrup, taking care to not crush cereal. After mixture has cooled slightly stir again, dredging up the syrup which has collected at the bottom of the bowl.
Allow cereal mixture to cool for approximately 7-10 minutes then carefully stir in the entire bag of Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and 1 1/2 cup of the Mallow Bits. Continue to stir mixture to evenly distribute the decadence. Store in airtight container–yeah, as if.
